THE SHOW: J. Mendel
MAKEUP: Tanya Cropsey for Bobbi Brown
HAIR: Odile Gilbert for Barex Italiana
BEAUTY SNAPSHOT: Chic, elegant and modern

THE SCOOP: "There are tons of statement pieces in J. Mendel's Fall 2009 collection," said makeup artist Tanya Cropsey. "From simple silhouettes to luxe furs, it's absolutely jaw-dropping." Cropsey wanted to makeup to act as a backdrop to the clothing, subtly defining the eye and lips in matte shades instead of highlighting one feature. The eyes, which Cropsey described as "the modern smoky eye" diffused matte, dark gray shadow from the lash line to the crease, with no mascara or liner. Pouts were velvety red and matte to complement the eyes. The hair was an equal mixture of elegance and modernity, a slicked back splice of chignon and modified ponytail. Hair stylist Odile Gilbert called it "chic elegant and modern - from the front, the sides and the back it look like different GET THE LOOK- HAIR: Gilber worked Barex Italiana Gum Gum through the hair, then gave it a deep side part and round it back like you're making a high chignon, but secure it as a ponytail instead. Gilbert then looped a black string in the hair near the nape of the neck and used it to secure the bottom of the ponytail. She finished the look with a spritz of Barex Italiana Gloss Hair Spray, to get the hair extra smoothstyles."
